I have been busy spinning lately that I have let my knitting go! I still haven't ripped out the camel toe sock. I did manage to get the pink yarn untangled. I guess I have been distracted with these lately

And I don't think it's a bad distraction either! These are some great freakin' books! I have so many tee shirts that I don't have the heart to get rid of. Now I know what to do with some of them!

Oh and I picked up these little guys at the "gum machine" at the dollar store, they were 25 cents each! I see cute little stitch markers! Don't you?

I just had to throw my yellow handspun in there too. Hee hee......

I am especially fond of this little monkey guy

Have a great weekend!

How many of you are glad this week is over?

I sure know I am. It had it's highlights though. I thought I would share them with you.

First of all Little Geek had his first cello concert Tuesday night. Did I cry? You bet. He was terrific!

cello2 gig.JPG

He isn't quite Yo-Yo Ma but he will get there. There were over 100 kids just playing the violin. He rocked!

Okay, so that was Tuesday. Last night I went to Creekside Books to see the infamous Yarn Harlot. She is a kick in the pants lemme tell ya! She even let me take a picture of us! How nice of her! Here we are:

BethNicole and Harlot_25.JPG

I think I should change the name of this blog to BIG DORK because that was the way I acted! I couldn't think of anything to say! I know she probably would hate this (or be flattered) but I felt as if I was in the presence of a Rock Star! She was very nice though. Her voice is deeper than I thought.... interesting....... I bought her book (already started reading it - it's great) It was fun. Glad I did it.

Okay, so that isn't really me. I am now going to do something I won't do very often and show a picture of myself. Seriously it is me.

What??? You don't believe me? Okay, Okay. Here you go. Just so you know I really did meet her (I hope she will vouch for me)

me and the harlot_50.jpg

I made it nice and small. We don't want to over kill it now do we?

Over and out.

PS - Thanks to Carol for the photo editing!!!!!!

Yeah the Catagory says "Geek Stuff" I will get to that.

Kris is having a dilemma and I want you to help me and her out. She wants to make a top from K1 Magazine. I bought her the yarn, Lion Brand Micro Spun. Now Michael's had every color but 1. ROYAL BLUE! I picked up Turquoise. Here is a shot of them all together. I dunno, I kinda like the Turquoise.

Click on the photo for a bigger shot. Go over to her site and let her know what you think!

I love the Dollar Store!

Where else can you get Hello Kitty Pez Dispensers!

My son got some for Easter too:

He is giving me the lamb! What a kid! I have a Peppermint Patty Pez dispenser somewhere in my house. I really like these things. Now with this and my growing collection of "Floaty Pens" we are running out of room! Gotta go, my Ham and Scalloped Potatoes are getting cold.

the record player

Oh my god can you believe it!! And a big stack of 45's. I bought some LP's too. They seem to work better. They don't skip as much. Here is a shot looking down.

Would this be considered Geek or Knitting?

A couple of days ago I showed my "stash" well here is a picture of my books and magazines:

my books & mags.

Behind the knitting needles are more books. What I love to do is go to library book sales and look for the old craft books from the 70's. Boy what an ugly decade! Very chunky. (I was a kid in that decade) remember I am 39. You do the math. Anyway a couple of those books are my cherished books from the 70's. One was even my mom's!

I used to buy "Knitters" magazine and kept every issue. I don't like that magazine anymore. Why? Is there anything hip in that magazine? NO! Do we really need to see another picture of Lily Chin? Uh no. So I went through them all and ripped out the articles worth saving, which amounted to about 2 issue's worth.

I am proud to say that I have every issue of "Interweave Knits" that ever came out! I was looking through those too and I could probably chuck some of those. But being the geek that I am I won't. Some of the magazines date back to when I learned how to knit! Does anyone remember when "Elle" magazine used to have those cards you could rip out in the back, with knitting patterns? I miss those! Some of those where really cool.

My Dan Electro

Seeing as how I don't have much to say on the knitting front.... (I am working on Tammy) I want to show off my guitar. It is quite dusty I will admit and totally out of tune. Thank god for my tuner and my hubby. I am getting more inspired to play it though..... My son will be reaching my goal before I do! (he came up with a great song already - he's 6 1/2)
Here is the Dan Electro:

Ain't she pretty! Now I just need to play it more...........
OH and that is not my amp. That is the hubby's. That is a pretty squonkin' one though! I love it and I can use it when ever I want!
What do you think Missa? Wanna Jam?

The Red Panda

Okay so I just finished the above book. Didn't like it. Big Yawn. And they have the nerve to compare it to Catcher in the Rye.

I am not very original!

Come on, I know every one has done it at least once, typed your name into google? Well I did that a while ago, and someone with the same name as me is apparently a very high up there officer in the military and wrote a book! (It wasn't me) Well I typed in "Big Geek Knit Blog" and evidently I am not the only knitting geek out there!

You may have noticed on the side bar under other sites I check out, one called Judith Schaechter. She is a friend of mine and a very talented one! Please, anyone, if you get the chance click on it and check out her stuff. She is a stained glass artist. And this ain't the stuff you see in church. It really is beautiful stuff! Love her! I met Judy in Philadelphia when I used to live there. She was in a really cool band called "Ken". They were an all girl band with a boy for a singer. Sigh....... He unfortunately did not look like "Ken" but whatever. The band was great. Lets hear it for Judy!

Exibit A - Boot Fetish

I love shoes. Would this be considered GEEKY? Hmmm...... I think not. But hey this is a chance for me to try and upload a picture. These were my latest purchase on e-bay. Now if you are as old as I am you may remember these from high school. I LOVE THESE BOOTS. I have been searching and searching for these. Of course I didn't want to pay full retail price of $200 and get them brand new. Oh no not me. These boots are what I have been looking for on e-bay forever (and 6 pairs of boots later....) So please everyone enjoy my boots and the good deal I got on them.

From one Geek to the Next

I read about this in a magazine and thought the listings of Mix Tapes were totally funny. Click on the "Automatic Mix Tapes Generator" to see the mixes that were already done. I used to make tapes for people (just like John Cusack in High Fidelity - Great movie by the way) until we got a computer and I made mix cd's. Check out some of the titles. I wish I thought of some of these!
