Blog fodder

Hey! Thanks for the comments on my glasses! I have responded to most of you and I think I said:

"Boys DO make passes at girls who wear glasses"

Right? Well they do. I will leave it at that.

So did you ever work somewhere where there was one person who totally got your sense of humor or personality? Then you become good friends and they make your work day ever so much better? I have many friends like that. (Lemon! I miss you a ton)

Well I have a friend Carol, who comments on my blog and doesn't even knit. She appreciates my knitting though. Carol has to be one of the funniest people I know. She turns me on to Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, I turn her on to Flight of the Conchords. We talk in silly British accents or old Jewish lady accents all the time at work. So now we are into the whole Twilight thing. (I turned her on to it - she hates Bella though...) I also let her borrow the movie Marie Antoinette. You know the one with Kristin Dunst. I love that movie. The music is awesome. The costumes were beautiful and Kristin Dunst, well, she could have at least spoke in a fake British accent like me! She wasn't great, but I still liked the movie.

Well our local museum had an exhibition of Marie Antoinette inspired clothing. We had to go. The exhibit was eh...okay...

I couldn't take any pictures and I wanted to because they had a sheep mannequin with a crown on it's head. I tried to be sneaky, but the musuem guard was right there! Okay, so we check out the museum. Downstairs they have a room just for kids. The museum is totally dead. So Carol and I decide to "play"

goof ball that I am.jpg

I say! Let them eat cake!

cc as ma.JPG

Carol says: Cake or death!!!! Death! No I mean cake! Yes Cake!!!

Moving right along...we found a "dress up" room. Well what would you do if nobody was around?

Yep! Then a grown up showed up with some kiddo's. He took the picture for us!

I was able to sneak this photo:

There was no sign saying I couldn't and the guard wasn't around. How cool is this? Now I know what to do with all those knitting needles that don't have mates! Um yeah right.

Hey, at least some of this is knitting releated!

New stuff!

I have decided that I am not going to be a crazy person this year and knit things for Christmas.

Causes too much stress. Makes my face break out and everyone around me miserable.

So instead, I decided to cast on another project for just me

T SOCK.JPG

These are the Tyrolean Stockings from Interweave Knits Fall 2007. I have long since admired them. They are a bit challenging for me as they have many cables...I am trying to decide if I like knitting cables or not. I sure like the look of them, but to knit them....still on the fence.

I will let you know when these are done.

I have more new stuff to share! I got new glasses!

NEW GLASSES.JPG

I was going for the geeky/safety glasses look. I believe I achieved that.

What do you think?

It's snowing!

And a good thing too! I got my Old Shale Smoke Ring done!

Old Shale Smoke ring done.JPG

Of course I didn't wear it today. It wasn't SNOWING when I left the house.

I had some yarn left over from the cowl so I made a cute little sock!

Well actually I made two. And obviously one is not made from the same yarn....But what another great way to use up your left over sock yarns! This probably took me like an hour to make. Do you think this could count for my November socks? Seeing as how I didn't knit any for September or October. Probably not....

Specs:
Pattern: Alpaca Sox Mini Socks Pattern
Needles: US 2 - 2 circulars
Yarn: bits from my left over sock yarns

Oh, and I have been holding out on you. I have some finished yarn to show:

This was entirely spun and plied on my spindle. I got about 70 yards of a fingering weight yarn. Course I want more now. What can I do with this little bit? And I don't want to hear "MAKE LITTLE MINI SOCKS"

;-)

I am a selfish knitter

I finished my sweater and thought, I need to start something new. Just for me. Well, wasn't that sweater for me? Aren't all those socks for me? See how I am?

Hey! I am totally okay with this. Who else will appreciate it besides well... ME! Enough about me, what about it?

It's the Old Shale Smoke Ring by Cosy. I am using sock yarn that I won 2 years ago from the lovely and talented Sweet Georgia. I mean seriously, Would you want this on your feet?

I think not.

Is there such a thing as sexy yarn?

Guess what?

It's DONE!

Okay, but wait a minute...

IT'S TOO BIG!

sigh...

fls back.JPG

I dunno, perhaps I will learn to love it...

It feels more like a bed jacket than a sweater. Could be the cotton I used. It wasn't the pattern. That was great! I am not even going to tell you what this sweater is because everyone knows already about this pattern. I think between this and the clapotis it is the most popular pattern out there! I think if I make another one I will definately use wool. You don't know how glad I am that this is done. I feel like I can start something new. Or perhaps finish up something old..... nah.
