Roza Socks are finally done »»
February 05, 2008
I reallly need to focus....
I have all these projects with just 1 mitten, or 1 sock or part of this or part of that done. Sigh...... I think I just need more time! Yeah right.
What has caused my mind to wander? Yet again? I am so into this mitten thing! Also I keep looking at the Vanna's Choice yarn that doesn't seem to be dwindling....
I thought I would try a new pattern with the above yarn and see what I came up with:
Yes. This is the Matrix Mittens. I really love the pattern, but I don't like the square edge at the top. I am more of a pointy mitten gal.
Here is the back side:
And just to overload you, here are shots on my hand:
Why people, do I feel the need to knit with Acrylic? I am going to give these another shot, but I am going to modify the top of the mitten to a point. AND I am going to knit with good old fashion wool
I guess I should mention that I do have one Roza sock done and I am at the gusset of the second. Home stretch. I should have new socks to wear by the weekend!

I'm obsessed with making mittens right as well... I just ordered the Selbuvotter book.... now planning to make ALL my Christmas gifts for this year out of said book...Ambitious much?

I like the squared off edge. To each, his own.
Um..acrylic is inexpensive, it stays put and it's machine washable and is available in large quantities. Could you imagine how much a 'Pound of Love' of Rowan Calmer or Noro would be??!?!

I wonder if the top of the mitten would look as squared off in wool. It drapes and shapes differently than acrylic, and it's warmer too! I think the pattern is worth another try. :-) Use your handspun, and you'll still be economical.

I agree with you on the mitten points. They just seem to fit better...
But, I do love those mittens! Just imagine the beauty in wool and with pointiness!

They're great! And, heck, they're washable when they're acrylic. Having some of each is a good thing. :-)

If anyone understands mitten obsession, it's me!

I think they are super cute!

I do like the squared tops - but I like my toes squared off too, so maybe it is a symmetry thing?
And where you are you should be knitting with wool, cashmere, yak, etc. Not acrylic! But hey, sometimes the lure of the yarn is too much.
Lovely mitten. I need to make some before it warms up!

I like the mitten. Very nice! I also think it's hilarious that Vanna White has her own line of yarn.

Is it because acrylic is relatively cheap, often comes in good colors, and can be squishy soft? (get it outta your system!-wool is so much warmer)
