Wahooo!!!!!!
I got my camera last night!!! I am back baby with the pictures!
Okay here we go. I got an FO and I am thinking that Fair Isle is a GREAT THING. Or is this stranded knitting?
I dunno, but I am obsessed.
I want a pair of these in every color possible. I think they look a little "Elfish" whatever
Here is a close up. Why? BECAUSE I HAVE A NEW CAMERA!!!!
Specs:
Pattern: Herringbone Mittens
Yarn: Lion Brand Wool Ease (Cranberry Red and White)
Needles: US 6 DPNS
I think the red "bled" a little into the white. Not from the dye of the yarn but from the fuzz. I kept the pom pom off because I thought it would get in the way when wearing. I like the pom pom, but I just left it off
I think in my last post I told you I started the Inga Hat
I can show you a progress photo. Why? BECAUSE I GOT A NEW CAMERA!!!!
Okay, I will stop.
Don't you love the pattern on this???
Now this is a pattern I will have to try other combinations of.
Oh, my camera. It's a Cannon PowerShot A560. Oh and I took these pictures this morning. They don't look yellow like my last camera made them look! I love this thing.

The mittens are pretty striking! I can see how you would want several colors. Congrats on the Camera! I think we have the same model :)

Wow - I am loving those mittens as well. That may be a good starter project for me, as I've never done any colour work! They are "gohgeous"! :-)

Very nice! Love the camera too. Is the green handspun? I love the variations in the color.

Nice shots from your new camera! Are the stranded mittens warmer than regular mittens? It seems like they would be.
Also, I LOVE THE INGA HAT! Wow, it's so pretty!

Nicely done! May I ask what yarn you are using for the Inga hat? Your gauge looks bigger than the pattern, but perhaps that is just an illusion induced by your new camera. :)

We have the same camera and love it.

Love the hat! And yay for you getting a new camera! I have the A540 and I'm pretty happy with it. There are certain things I wish it would do, but I'd just have to get a much higher end camera if I want those kind of pictures.

Oh boy, I figured fair Isle WAS a type of stranded knitting?
Posted by: windyridge at January 12, 2008 08:56 AM
Yay for the new camera! The knitting too, of course! ;) All of your stranded stuff is an inspiration so why I am I such a wimp about starting those Mosaic Mitts?

I think technically the herringbone mittens are stranded. They look fantastic! Your stitches are so nice and even.
Posted by: alison at January 14, 2008 12:48 PM
I agree with alison, those are stranded -- because they're not done in a traditional fairisle pattern. I tend to use the term "fairisle style", though, because it's slightly more easily understood when I'm talking to other knitters. There are many who just see multiple colours, though, and are wildly impressed no matter what you tell them. And let them be impressed -- it's impressive!
I am enjoying the many pictures or stranded knitting -- I have just rekindled my passion for colourwork, myself, and so of course I can't get enough knit p0rn that features it.
