You know what they say about a girl with big feet don't you?

BIG SOCKS!

Yes, super secret knitting now can be revealed! I made my friend in New Jersey a pair of socks for her 40th, yes 40th birthday. Cause we all know once you get old like 40, your feet start getting cold. That's not true.

Anyway... She has big feet doesn't she? Well as she should. She is a tall drink of water! 6 foot I believe, so she deserves her big feet. If they were any smaller she would look funny. A while back I asked my friend to send me some measurements of her feet. This is what I got:

Not much to go by. But I did my best. Her feet don't really look like that. Wait a minute. I have never seen her feet, they could actually look like Fred Flintstone feet......

Here is a picture I took of one of my socks next to her sock:

Just to show you the scale of it all. Wow! It's a Big Foot sighting! Whoa! Okay, enough of me going on and on about her poor feet. I sent the package yesterday. She got them today and took a picture

Happy feet! They fit perfectly I am told!

Specs:
Yarn: Knit Picks Simple stripes in burgandy, tan, brown
Needles: US size 2 - 2 circluars
Pattern: From Cat Borhdi's book - Socks soar on 2 circular needles
This was the quickest pair of socks I have ever done. It took me a week and a day to complete. Obviously I wasn't knitting all the time.....

Wowsa! says I... I have a friend who is 6'3", so her feet are big too, a man's 11 I think, and narrow. The socks look great on her feet. I totally love the commentary on her drawing!

ahhhh! Knit socks for big feet always look scary until you see them on the feet, then they look right.

I am proud of my perfect big feet and even more proud to show them off with my new socks on!!! Slept like a rock on my new sock (s)!!
THANK YOU BETH. I'll have them and wear them with love until they are tattered and need another pair. love, love, love them. M

Dang those are some big feet! And now they have some big, pretty socks!!

I've got clown feet too and agree, us sasquatches deserve pretty socks too though I confess, I often wish, halfway through the foot, that I were more petite. That small gauge stockinette gets tedious and I commend you for your efforts!

Nice drawings! And I love her comment -- "what more could you need???"

Wow, even a week and a day for socks is good. Those drawings are funny.

Still planning on coming out here in a few months?

The socks are wonderful. How satisfying to see that they fit so well and even better - that they are loved. What more could a knitter ask?

Whoa! That is some big feet! And some gorgeous socks ;) Did you need extra yarn?

Posted by: Crystal at April 27, 2007 10:46 AM

I wear a 10 1/2 in womens. My grandfather told me I'd never tip over in a strong wind!! Love the size WOW socks!!

I'm 14 and 5'11", so obviously I have some big feet- size 10s. I like my big feet, but I often find myself wishing I could have smaller ones- less sock yarn!

I have a friend who has a cousin with US Men's Size 21 feet at 7,2-7,3" (39 cm long I believe). BTW, did you know your forearm is the same length as your foot? It may not seem so but it actually is!
