Spinning.....

Remember this?

gaypride_502.jpg

Well, I have finally spun it up! It is very "festive" shall we say?
I called the roving "Gay Pride".

Here is a "singles" yarn cake:

Well, it doesn't really look like that anymore.

I probably should have navajo plied.

But I didn't want to.

I *center-pull-balled-2-plyed* (it's my new word) and this is what I got:

Introducing: Jah Rastafari! (That is what husband exclaimed when he saw it.) ("really")

;-)

Now who would have thought? Very nice. I've tried that center pull ball thing but I'm not coordinated enough. Well unless making pretty yarn tangles are your goal. Now I guess you should attempt a very Rastafarian looking hat or something - maybe for the hubby :-)

My young daughter (who loves rainbows) was reading over my shoulder as I read today's blog. She helped me dye, spin, and knit a rainbow hat and scarf for her... she was amazed to see someone else has rainbow work also!

Wow, that yarn is gorgeous, very nice job.

I love how closely the single matched the batt! Cool. I like the finished yarn too, with the light against the dark. Looks great!

I did the same exact thing for the We Be Deadheads colorwork, only I plied the rainbow single with red. Used on a black background, it is totally awesome.

Noggin's okay, by the way. The rest sucks, but the noggin's fine :-)

Looks wonderful! (although I am wondering about how the pinky purple and red ply together - can you even look at that part? - but of course you can! You are queen of neon contrast knitting! :-D )

I think the 2 ply is fun. In the future, you will probably stop to consider the end use of the yarn and decide about navajo ply or not. Each way has wonderful possibilities!

Please bring the skein to the guild meeting for show and tell - I want to touch it!

Actually that looks pretty cool done the non-Navajo way, funky-like. Ayree man

Wow, very rasta indeed! All it needs is some dreads and a doobie. Can I say doobie here?

Awesome!!!!!

What a cool transition from bat to yarn to yarn again! What are you going to do with it? Rasta ristwahmahs? I played like that with some doll called...oh shit how can I remember what it is called with dh ragging at me about counting bats in Mammoth Cave and ds over my shoulder in my ear both of them babbling about they need this machine.

Well, I was going to say after the first pic, "You should make something out of that and wear it on your trip out here to SF" but never mind. Maybe you'll have to wait till you go on a Jamaican cruise ;)

Beautiful, saturated colors. And the black really is a good complement. Ja, man!
