Rhinebeck - 2006

OH MY GOD DOT COM!!!!

What can I say? I was totally overwhelmed. I had no idea of the size of this thing! I was literally shaking.... REALLY.... I had a great time. My driving buddy Mia kept me sane and laughing my ass off. I think the last thing I said to her at the end of the day was "I'm not going back" But that is a lie.... hee hee...

How to describe Rhinebeck - OVER THE TOP. I didn't know what to look at or what to buy first. Or for that matter, what to eat! I did come away with a few goodies:

Blue face sheepy stuff from these guys: Indigo Moon Farm One word: SOFT

Okay, I got this beautiful purple stuff, warning, wear your sunglasses!

That was from: Kid Hollow

Up next

Yes, I am calling this "Stuff" I have no idea where it is from, but it was cheap.

Last but not least:

I got this from: Steam Valley Fiber

Oh and there was this little meet up at Building E.

I am sure you will recognize a few faces in those pictures!

Here are people I saw, but didn't have the nerve or the time to say HI!!

Adrian, Cheryl, Yarn Harlot, Margene,Jillian

Now here is one picture I took of a mini Lacy Libertines reunion:

Yep, that is me and Meg. We just needed Missa and Toni!!

I saw and probably HUGGED (because that is the way I am) the following:

Monica
Lee Ann (she gives great hugs)
Maryse
Stacy
Kate (I shook her hand, I finally met her Kris!!) She was talking to Amy and I am sorry for interrupting! REALLY!
Stephanie
Brooke
Cara(shook her hand)
Shelby
And my peeps from Syracuse:
Erin
Elizabeth
Jill

So all in all a very memorable time! Until next year......

I leave you with a bobbin shot:

I couldn't decide what to spin first so I did a little of both...

Over and out. I need a nap.

So, which fiber did you like to spin best? They are both wonderfully colorful.

Wow! I like the bright purple roving! Sorry I missed it, but it sounds like you had a great time even without me. Ha ha!

Posted by: Julia at October 23, 2006 01:55 PM

Shoot, I can't believe I didn't get to say hi to you! Next time you're not getting away so easily, you better come say hello!

Posted by: Cheryl at October 23, 2006 02:12 PM

when did you get time to spin? i still haven't unpacked!

Posted by: maryse at October 23, 2006 02:31 PM

oh man, i missed it! i could have met you! boo!

Posted by: kris at October 23, 2006 02:33 PM

What a haul - more vendor links for me to live vicariously through. Sounds like a wonderful time - and you totally should have said hi to Cheryl, she's just about the easiest person to talk to you could meet.

Posted by: PumpkinMama at October 23, 2006 02:43 PM

Awwwww, so do you :-)

It was SO cool to finally meet you, after all this time. You're a sweetie...and lucky you, you got to meet way more people at the meetup than I did. Small person and big person had a blood sugar drop the size of a small country and we had to go get food :-(

We're going next year, says my husband. Can you believe it??? I swear, next time, he'll ask someone to teach him to knit :-)

Posted by: Lee Ann at October 23, 2006 02:49 PM

oh WHINE! WHINE WHINE WHINE! (stomping feet) Wah Wah Wah!
Can ya tell I'm so freakin' jealous? FWIW, I would have been shaking too!

I loooooove the green :) Your going to HAVE to name that one Shrek!

Posted by: Carla at October 23, 2006 02:53 PM

Really.. I can't BELIEVE that you've already started spinning, but it looks great. You're spinning has really gotten good, girl! Talk to ya soon.

Posted by: Mia at October 23, 2006 03:01 PM

it was great to finally meet you!!! would you believe that immediately after i left you i ran into marie (brooklyn handspun) and said "you have to meet beth!" and then you were gone :( we looked all over for you.

so it looks like you'll HAVE to go next year. there are plenty more people to meet!

Posted by: gleek at October 23, 2006 03:40 PM

Posted by: diana at October 23, 2006 05:36 PM

It sounds wonderful!!! I am making myself a personal promise to be there next year come heck or high water. Love the fiber...you are quite the shopper! ;)

Posted by: Sheepish Annie at October 23, 2006 06:01 PM

Aw man, I missed you! Nice haul, and such beautiful spinning already. I've barely had time to play with what I got.

Posted by: Lolly at October 24, 2006 10:20 AM

Yup. There's my back! Next year I want a hug too!!! Glad you had a great time.

Posted by: Cara at October 24, 2006 12:58 PM

I'm glad I got to see you there! You're right though, it was totally overwhelming!

Posted by: Erin at October 24, 2006 06:54 PM

What??!! I'd have loved to meet you.

It was a crazy whirlwind, wasn't it? I sadly can't even remember half the people I met, I was in such sensory overload.

I see you captured a tiny photo of me talking the Harlot's ear off, which is funny!

Posted by: Adrian at October 25, 2006 11:26 AM

WOW!!! I am especially taken with the green. Sea lettuce green? How could you have time to spin that since the big weekend?? Next year...maybe I'll get there next year.

Posted by: lisa at October 25, 2006 11:37 AM

I would typically be jealous, you going to this big fancy fiber fest up north (too far for me to travel in a weekend) BUT. I have the Kid n' Ewe n' Llama Too fiber festival to look forward to in Boerne, Texas in a couple of weeks. Woo hoo!! It makes Rhinebeck look like Rhinebeck.

Posted by: Susan at October 26, 2006 10:54 AM

I am sooo jealous! Your haul is amazing, what a superb event! Whooooo hooo! xx

Posted by: Annarella at October 26, 2006 04:08 PM
