I've been busy, what can I say?

Phew, what a week. AND it's not over. I've had relatives in town, birthday parties to give and work. BUSY BUSY BUSY!!!

I did a little knitting inbetween all of this. And I have a problem. Please tell me what to do. I started a sock (or 2) and the problem is this:

The one on the bottom is freakin' HUGE! I am using the pattern from Cat Bordi's book (I don't know if I spelled her name right and I don't have time to check) Well it seems so big compared to the Knit 2 Purl 2 rib (as shown) I am using size 1 US needles and I really really like this, but I think it is too big?

So I guess my question is do I rip? Or don't I rip?

Here is a shot of it with out the other one on top.

It sure is purdy init? Oh, the other sock is Knit Picks dancing, in a color way called "prairie" I didn't order that color, but I am not sending it back. I like it!

Oh and these lovely stamps showed up at my door yesterday

When I see these, it can only be from Kris! YAY a package from Kris!!!!!!!

I got a little misty eyed, because well, I've had a bad week. It totally cheered me up. God you people are the best!

Here is a nice close up of the sock yarn

Now there is some purdy colors!

Oh yeah, this was in there too

I can pretend to know French!

Nope, no french here. But I love those sock yarns that she sent you! And I think you should try the big sock on and see if it feels loose. If it feels loose, then it's too big, if it's not, keep going!

oh yes, I recently had this sock size issue. The real question is: does it fit? Is it the right size? Because any non-ribbed sock looks huge when compared to a ribbed sock. If it the right gauge, maybe it is fine.

I did one sock with ribbing and one without - and the ribbing one looked tiny compared to the other one. So I am optimistic about your sock problem.

I read *somewhere* in blogland that a book is coming out that will give knitting translations for Japanese, French, German, Italian, Norwegian and something else. Gah! If I find the note I will give you the link.

Same with me... my first sock attempt was a knee sock. I followed the pattern and was at exact gauge, but it looked so freakin' huge that I frogged it. I was using DPNs so I couldn't try it on.

You should be able to slip this one on since you're using two circulars but if you can't, I think it looks right... ribbing can really scrunch up. I mean, look how ridiculously tiny the top of this sock looks and it fits my average-sized husband.

Ya know? I just read someone else's blog that was having the same sock dilemma. I can't think of who it was though. They said that in the end, it was ok.

Try it on! That's half the point of Cat's book! Both socks look great! Good luck!!

I agree. Try it on. I'm bilingual French/English but I don't know French knitting terms or abbreviations. My suggestion? Get an English translation from Canada.

Well, let's see. The pretty blue sock cuff looks like it's k2,p2 and the pretty red one looks like it's k1,p1. No idea why the big difference but do you think they'd both fit? The k2,p2 would stretch more so I think it evens out in the end.

Beautiful sock yarns. My favorite colors, too!

Needles and yarn and zipper pulls, OH MY! What a fun gift. Where do I sign up? :-O

I'm pretty sure the cover of the pattern book says "The Summer". Big help, huh?

That sock DOES look a little big...could be just the picture though. Like the others, I say try it on.

And I love the sock yarn. I think I have an addiction with sock yarn. I have quite a bit. I don't know when I will be able to actually turn all of it into socks....but it sure does make me happy looking at all the skeins.

luv the colors..! and i couldn't tell you wether it's too big or not...but it sure is pretty...! so as the others say...try the damn thing on...and if necessary...rip...rip...rip...you've ripped out more than that before...is kris your secret pal? what a pal...! nice package
