I'm spinnin' Baby!

Yep! I am! Wahoo! What was I waiting for? Some one to show me what the f**k to do! You have already seen my first try. But let's just recap shall we?

yarn1_25.jpg

Ahhhh, the look of first time spun yarn! All bumpy and lumpy and BAD. Now we have my second attempt

yarn2_50.jpg

A yarn by a girl a little more sure of herself! Not bad, not bad!

Next we have..................

yarn3_25.jpg

wait, what's this? I would say the girl was a little too cocky! Now she has too much twist in her yarn! What is a girl to do? She calls Rachel and Rachel calmly lets her know what to do. So she happily moves on to this

yarn4_25.jpg

Okay, the girl is back on track, a little......it's all in the tension and the twist......yeah sure!

Let's revisit that over spun yarn

Looks like something my cat has coughed up doesn't it?

woo hoo! spinning! beautiful! never mind that, um, curly yarn, you could just give it a brushing and sell it as fun fur, maybe?

Wow, look at that! Not the over twisted stuff but the other stuff. It looks awesome! Just like something you'd buy in the store.

Interesting, even for a non-spinner like myself! so what happens once a yarn is overspun? Can it be undone, or is that it?

Wow! I wish the hell there was someone around here to teach me. I've got the roving, got the drop spindle, and I'm terrified to start. Luckily some of the roving is in my most unfavourite colour, so that's good for practise, anyway...I can create a teal hairball ;-)

Is it bad if it surprises me that I have any clue what I'm talking about? I'm glad it worked! Very beautious :)

I have tried drop spindle many times, and I can't get the hang of it! Yours looks great.

u go girl....i'm so proud of you....it looks great...well all except the giant hairball

Personally I think you should sell it on Ebay as the next great novelty yarn. People will by anything if you give it a kicky crafty name.

I am impressed! It looks good!

Well done! You are doing great!! You even inspired me to start studying my spinning books last night!!

Congratulations! I can't even imagine spinning anything, let alone producing such great-looking yarn on my first attempts.

Your spinning is coming along nicely! Why don't you make a two-ply out of the over-spun skein. It will help tame it. Just make a center pull ball out of it and make the ply from both ends. Or knit with it and see how you can make bias knitting from reg st st. If you then spin some in the opposite direction and knit that on top it will skew the opposite direction. It is a fun idea for a zig-zag scarf. The other thing you can do is hold two singles that are spun in opposite directions and knit with them and they will act like a balanced yarn. All fun things to try!
